Sitting down to create a new website can be a surprisingly difficult proposition. It’s fairly simple to come up with a concept and some general ideas around what information you wish to convey, but when it comes down to actually picking a page layout, selecting fonts that make sense and figuring out where to use them, not to mention boiling down those general ideas into coherent, concise units — it can be intimidating to say the least. Luckily we were able to draw on the knowledge and expertise of the fine folks at Seven Ages Design and ultimately came up with a quality result that met the goals we had in mind when we began this process.
First and foremost, we wanted to ensure that our prospective clients were able to understand who we are and what services we offer. The internet presents to consumers an overwhelming volume of information about every sort of business imaginable. It seems counterintuitive, but this wealth of information frequently functions as more of an obstacle to discovering the solution you are after than a tool to facilitate that process. We wanted our website to help people understand quickly what products and services we offer to them, and to get a sense of our values and who we are as a company. We wanted to lead them efficiently to the information that they want to see without forcing them to sift through pages and paragraphs of irrelevant text. Ultimately, we accomplished this through intelligent design and careful word choice — by allowing viewers to select icons and words that are relevant to them, and linking those words to an expanded but still concise block of information.
With this in mind, it is with great pleasure and pride that we present our new website to you, the reader, and the rest of the world. We like to think it is an example of good web-design, we hope you like it as much as we do!
